Ingredients
3-4 lb pork shoulder (boneless)
3 tablespoons Sweet Baby Slay spice
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup apple juice or apple cider
1/4 cup BBQ sauce (optional)
Directions
Prep the pork: Pat the pork shoulder dry. Rub olive oil all over the pork. Generously coat the pork with Sweet Baby Slay spice, pressing it into the meat.
Slow cook method: Place pork in a slow cooker. Pour apple juice around (not on top) of the pork. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the meat is tender and pulls apart easily. Oven method: Preheat oven to 300°F. Place pork in a roasting pan with a little apple juice at the bottom. Cover tightly with foil and roast for 3-4 hours until tender.
Shred the pork: Remove pork from cooker or oven, let rest 10 minutes. Use two forks to shred the meat, discarding excess fat.
Optional finishing: Toss shredded pork with your favorite BBQ sauce or serve as-is for a bold, smoky, sweet flavor.
Serve: Pile the pulled pork on buns for sandwiches, or serve over rice, tacos, or loaded fries.
